ALIOS Assorted Learning’s In One Session
ALIOS, an acronym for “Assorted Learning’s In One Session”, is an initiative in this direction. At HKIMSR, we wholeheartedly dedicate an hour or so everyday exclusively to providing exposure to the students on a wide variety of aspects that go beyond the class-room curriculum learning. This is done through debates and discussions on current issues, management as well as general knowledge videos, management games, quizzes and puzzles, etc. Each of the core HKIMSR faculty is deeply involved in the conduct of these highly interactive and engaging sessions, necessitating a significant amount of time and effort in researching relevant contemporary issues. Aptly named, ALIOS, which incidentally also means “WARRIOR” in German, is a singular attempt on our part to create professional managers that live up to its name.
An increasingly demanding world of business is placing emphasis on young recruits to enter organizations armed with knowledge of an eclectic mix of the hard and the soft aspects central to the functioning of a today’s business enterprise – comprising the mental, psychological, social and technological faculties of one’s personality.
The world of business is getting increasingly dynamic and complex, dynamic because with scenarios are changing virtually by the day and complex because a far greater range and number of factors are coming into play than ever before to determine success of a business enterprise. As the marketplace matures with rising competition, entry of global players, & the consequent rise in general standards of input and output, this, as a natural progression, leads to a highly demanding world scenario where the sheer sustenance of an enterprise depends upon how it is able to adapt to this changing world order of increasing complexity, dynamism & competitiveness.
Therefore, it is vital for business education to take the onus of building greater exposure to a vast multitude of aspects that go beyond the course curriculum with a view to developing all-round skills in management students that enable them to adapt to the different scenarios that they may encounter during their work life.
Management Education is not just about going through the academic curriculum, which of course is vital and puts students at par with other fellow management students, but, most importantly, is meant to be a transformative experience through which they can prepare themselves in the many and varied roles they will undertake in future life. Students need to be given the right tools to enable them to thrive and take charge of their own well-rounded development.
ALIOS, an acronym for “Assorted Learning’s In One Session”, is an initiative in this direction. Aptly named, ALIOS, which incidentally also means “WARRIOR” in German, is a singular attempt on our part to create professional managers that live up to its name.
In this backdrop, the ALIOS sessions are aimed at helping groom students through exposure to a wide range of assorted areas of business and allied aspects. They provide students with ample knowledge on current affairs as well as on the respective domains of specialization. ALIOS is a platform where students not only learn but also showcase their talent, thereby building their confidence, personality and knowledge.
The vivid range of learning offered at ALIOS sessions has helped me to groom my personality holistically. The sessions are designed to provide ample knowledge on current affairs and on our functional domains. ALIOS has been a transformative experience for us in building our knowledge, confidence and chiseled personality.

ALIOS LitFest:
Our 3-day inter-collegiate Management Conclave and Cultural Festival, ETHOS, attracts participation in a large cross-section of both indoor and outdoor activities from students of colleges across Mumbai and beyond. Since entire set of activities are planned, staged and managed by HKIMSR students; as an ethical conduct, the participation to any competitive activities is not open to HKIMSR students. The ALIOS LitFest was therefore conceived for HKIMSR students beginning in 2013 – as a platform to compete and showcase their talent in an intra-college environment. Students take part in a wide range of literary activities adapted from ETHOS, ranging from truly Intellect-driven on one extreme (like Debating, Quizzing, Stock-Market Simulation, Solving Puzzles and Mysteries, Treasure Hunt, etc.) to the creativity-driven on the other extreme (Creating Advertisements, Photography, etc.). This internal engagement running for 15-20 days provides them competitive exposure to activities which are common to management competitions across colleges and also strengthens our talent-hunt for inter-college contests outside our campus.
What ETHOS achieves for the larger student community in inter-college context, ALIOS LitFest is aimed at achieving for our HKIMSR students in intra-college context – a platform to nurture talent and help them realise their potential.
ALIOS LitFest was a fun-filled learning experience. Who would ask for more than to learn and play simultaneously, and, then to add to it, to get rewarded as well? It helped in revelations of hidden talents and brought out the creativity among us students. It actually put our potential to test!
