REPORT ON CERTIFICATE DISTIBUTION CERMENOY 2019 – March 2019
Management Students of Class 2018 Marching Out
H.K Institute of Management Studies & Research, located in the innards of Mumbai suburbs and in the vicinity of Andheri Lokhandwala, celebrated its 9th award of the degree on March 02, 2019 in a joint celebration with HK College of Pharmacy & H.K College of Education. The Convocation Ceremony was convened in Prof Javed Khan’s Convention Centre. As a part of the convocation, post graduates of MMS & PGDM Program and graduates of Pharmacy and B.Ed. were felicitated.
Convocation began with majestic and grand academic procession walking down through pathway towards the auditorium followed by the Guests, welcoming the ceremony. The occasion was exalted by honourable Founder, President Prof Javed Khan. The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Mr Waseem Javed Khan, General Secretary, Maharashtra Educational Society, with Guests of Honour Ms Siji Varghese,TEDx Speaker & Behavioural Transformist, Mr Subodh Priolakar, CEO of Wincoat Colours & Coating Pvt. Ltd, and Mr Sunil Chaturvedi, Director of Pharma Network (SPPSPTM) & Advisor Marketing (NMIMS).
Prof T.G Roy, I/C Director from H. K Institute of Management Studies and Research (HKIMSR); Dr Anubha Khale, Principal and Dr. Vinay Vellingkar, Technical Director from HK College of Pharmacy (HKCP); and Dr. Shamim Maulvi, I/C Principal and Dr. Neeru Sharma from H. K. College of Education (HKCE) were present among the august gathering.
The ceremony was introduced by Prof Rubina Mohammad, Assistant Professor, HKIMSR with warm wishes for bright and shining future of the students. It started with illuminating lamps and sounding of bell, followed with Prof. T.G Roy and Dr. Anubha Khale, embarking the ceremony by introducing & felicitating the guests.
Session started with the enlightening words of Guest Speaker, Ms Siji Varghese. Her approach to commencement speech was simple, it’s just 3 stories from her life, “No big deal, just three stories.
1. Connecting the Dots — “You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.”
2. Love and Loss — “Keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
3. Death — “For the past 33 years, I have looked in the morning and asked myself, ‘If the today was the last day of my life, would I want to do what I’m about to do today?’”
The next dignitary was Mr. Subodh Priolkar. He expressed his pride in overseeing a ceremony celebrating the successful graduation of so many promising individuals from different fields and disciplines. In his capacity as the Guest of Honour, he worded his joy at being present there to witness students being awarded for the remarkable feats they had achieved, on behalf of the University as a whole whose motto is to be remarkable.
He stated that the students are on the threshold of entering into the billion dollar pharmaceutical market, wherein they will face a multitude of choices. He shared with the student that the key to become successful leader lies in the essence of all round development, and in being ethical and responsible citizens of the society. He emphatically implied that the young graduates should seek transparency in action and should not accept lack of accountability. Finally, he also expounded on the significance of Gross Happiness Index in today’s time!
The session was then continued with Mr. Sunil Chaturvedi, who quoted, “If we learned how to walk and talk the way we are taught how to read and write -everybody would limp and stutter.” Mark Twain.
His address offered personal stories, and both insightful and practical advice about topics ranging from the importance of asking the right questions, to surrounding yourself with the right people, to finding the courage to do things that are uncomfortable, and the power in sharing information. A few things he recommended;
“Find the smartest people you can and surround yourself with them.”
- “Find allies rather than adorers.”
- “Find the courage to do things you’re not ready to do.”
- “Find places where you’re comfortable … By being comfortable in your environment, you’re freed of your insecurities and the things that hold you back, but don’t need to.”
- “Power comes through sharing information. Tell everyone everything. The more valuable the better.”
The session further moved ahead with most awaited speaker Prof. Javed Khan. He sketched the role of a professional and a good human being in the context of societal development. He shared with the audience, power of strong determination and how it can lead to the path of success. He concluded, “Success comes to those who dare and act with zeal and determination.”
Ms Siji Varghese and Prof Tamojit Ghosh Roy were called upon to confer certificates to graduating students of HKIMSR. Mr Subodh Priolkar and Mr Sunil Chaturvedi were called upon to award the certificates to graduating students of HKCP and Prof Javed Khan and Mr Waseem Javed Khan awarded certificates to graduating students of HKCE.
The oath to the graduating students was solemnised by Dr Vinaykumar Velingkar & finally, Prof Iram Shaikh, concluded the session with vote of thanks mentioning her sincere gratitude on behalf of Management to each and every one including students, faculty & alumni members. Everyone in attendance rose as the national anthem played, and respect for the nation and our faithful soldiers was reflected in every person’s eyes.
Throughout the ceremony, sense of pride and achievement was discernible amongst the students, their families and the faculty and staff of the institutes. The Convocation Ceremony culminated with ray of hope and joy that is sure to inspire students in the years ahead.
