He is a career banker with 30 years of domestic and international banking experience in general. Towards later part in his career he was engaged in Project Finance, Structured Finance, SME Finance, Specialised Lending, Credit Risk Assessment and Management, Basel Capital Accord Implementation, Regulatory Compliance, Amalgamations and Mergers, Divestiture and Enterprise Risk Management
He exited commercial banking career (1976-2006) in 2006 and joined ORIX Leasing and Financial Services as Vice President and Financial Controller. While overhauling the credit and risk management practices there, he also pioneered the concept of vehicle based mobile banking and ATM services for commercial banks and mentored an Indian School of Business student in finance for submission of Project thesis
During the period, he had drafted the Risk Management Policy document for a leading Asset Reconstruction Company which was asked by the International Investors to put together a Risk Management Policy Document
After hanging up gloves in 2012 from ORIX Leasing and Financial Services, he had been retained as consultant on credit and risk management in the same organisation and had played a pivotal role in explaining the regulatory environment and risk management practices to Japanese Board and Australian Management.
In 2013, he was drawn out of ORIX by the previous IL&FS Management to join them as consultant in the area of implementation of Enterprise Risk Management in the conglomerate (2013-2018)
He has training stint in risk management in Bank of America, Mumbai through their accredited vendors (2012-13)
Besides visiting various Bankers’ Training Centres to deliver invitational lectures from time to time, he had also been invited by the prestigious National Institute of Bank Management, Pune, to deliver lecture to Bankers from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, by St Francis School of Management to deliver lecture on Risk Management and by the WE School to deliver lecture on Regulatory Aspects of Banking and Prudential Norms for the PGDM Students.
His articles on Banking and Risk Management had been published by the Bulletin of Indian Banks’ Association and by the Economic Times, Mumbai
