Lord Bhattacharya Memorial Function-May 2019

HKIMSR team invited by CII to attend memorial function of Prof. Lord Kumar Bhattacharya, University of Warwick

Prof. T.G. Roy, Director, along with Prof. Taiseen Patankar and Prof. Neha Sharma, faculty members from HKIMSR were invited by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to attend memorial function of Prof Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya on 31st May, 2019 organised at Y B Chavan Centre, Mumbai.

Born on June 6, 1940 in India, Prof. Lord Kumar Bhattacharya was a British-Indian engineer, educator and government advisor. He was a Professor of Manufacturing Systems at the University of Warwick and founded the Warwick Manufacturing Group. In 2004 he was made a Life Peer and became a member of the House of Lords.

The unfortunate demise of Prof Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya on March 01, 2019 left a void in the Indian manufacturing sector as he was closely associated with manufacturing excellence, leadership and transformation within the Indian industry over past several decades. Munjal, Chairman of Hero Group (R), N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons Ltd, Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII and Ms. Malini Bhattacharyya. Youngest daughter of Lord Bhattacharya paid tributes at the function.

“In his lifetime, Lord Bhattacharya did what many in their lifetime would only dream to do — he made a difference. We will come and go but the motivation and the idea of innovation that he created will live on,” said Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons, during the memorial.

The august gathering comprised of CEOs from leading manufacturing companies, academic team from University of Warwick, select management faculty members from Mumbai and representatives from all leading media houses.
